Skin Care Tip - Hands

Skin Care Tip - Hands

Contributed by: Aria Health Esthetician, Anna Broggi

Unless you always wear a pair of gloves, your hands are constantly exposed to sun, wind and water damage.  Were you aware that approximately 90% of the hand's visible skin changes, such as wrinkles and hyper pigmentation, are caused by the sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation?

Additionally, most people use harsh soaps and really hot water to clean their hands.  These also strip hands of their natural oils and moisture, which can cause skin damage.

Gentle and consistent care, particularly sun protection, is the key to healthy and great looking hands. Be sure to choose moisturizers that contain antioxidants, shea butter and natural oils, and don't forget to apply and reapply sunscreen after hand washing.

If we follow these tips and give our hands a little TLC, they will look and feel healthier.
