Keeping Fit This Winter

Keeping Fit This Winter

Keeping up with your fitness routine in the winter can be really difficult. Who wants to venture outdoors for their workout or go to the gym in the frigid weather? Certainly this can be a tough roadblock for even the most active people.

Believe it or not, some of our favorite winter past times can be high calorie burners. With this list, there's no excuse to let Old Man Winter keep you indoors! Give these a try and tell us what you think! If you're completely against heading outdoors, check out our Eat Well and Get Fit series in the Wellness Programs section of our website.

1. Sledding: Sledding combines exercise and family togetherness. Hiking up and down the hill can be just as beneficial as your lower body workout at the gym.

2. Ice Skating: Head on over to Blue Cross River Rink to get your ice skating on! This is a whole body muscular workout with cardio too!

3. Skiing or Snowboarding: You don't have to be a pro to have fun. Both of these activities take balance, strength and power. Give it a try, plan a day at your local mountain for family fun!
