What Makes Your Heart Move?

What Makes Your Heart Move?

An arrhythmia is a problem with the rate or rhythm of the heartbeat. During an arrhythmia, the heart can beat too fast, too slow, or with an irregular rhythm.

What are some of your favorite PG-rated activities that get your heart moving?  And what are some of the best ways to slow your heart rate and bring it back to a normal rhythm?

I love to swim and water walk at Aquatic Club. And then the best reward of all afterwards - the jacuzzi!

I try to walk at least 3 miles a day. It does not matter what the weather. I will walk in the rain with an umbrella. The one thing that willstop me is heavy snow.

Then let's all hope that you'll be walking those 3 miles outside for a LONG time - because as long as you're doing that great walk outside, that means there will be no snow!

Hi, Keith - I enjoy walking as well. It's great to be able to get exercise while getting fresh air and being outside - even if it is raining:-)

I play softball and kickball every week and find that the short sprints to each base (or better yet a homerun) do a good job of getting my heart rate up. In intermural league, such as these, I find that focusing on my breathing do the trip to get my heart back down to a normal rhthm; having asthma has taught me to breathe in through my nose and out through my mouth. Works every time!

Fall is a great time to go outside for a walk or a hike to get your heart moving. There are a few state parks in the area that are absolutely beautiful this time of year.

I enjoy running a few times per week. It's harder to convince myself to run in the winter because a treadmill just doesn't compare to the outdoors.
